Listenwise, a proud partner of NPR, curates a growing collection of professionally produced podcasts, aligned to state standards in ELA, social studies, and science. We harness the power of listening to advance literacy and learning in all students by using podcasts as classroom texts, amplifying content and providing students practice in required listening skills. Listenwise has users in all 50 states and internationally. We are based in an EdTech co-working space (LearnLaunch) in Boston’s Seaport District and growing rapidly.

What We’re Looking For

We have spent the last few years honing our product market fit and creating a repeatable sales model. We are now in a position to apply these lessons at scale. It will be your job to help us accelerate this growth. You will need to embody all of the characteristics of a strong sales person- objection handling, empathy, and grit. Equally important is the way you work with others---collaboration with colleagues and a desire to serve customers is critical.

The Role

As an SMB Account Executive, you will be the first voice that our customers hear, listening to and understanding the needs of teachers and administrators. You will qualify opportunities through phone and email to move them through the funnel yourself or hand them off to the Director of Sales. This is an end to end revenue generating role. You will be responsible for a new business quota.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Qualify all inbound leads from teachers and administrators to understand their needs and educate them about Listenwise
  • You will either take these opportunities through the pipeline for closing or transition these opportunities to the Director of Sales based on account size
  • Closely monitor deadlines and trigger events to ensure timely follow up
  • Participate in outbound prospecting campaigns to develop new opportunities for sales team
  • Deliver accurate revenue forecasts and account notes into CRM
  • Track down purchase orders to ensure the timely closing of all new business
  • Become knowledgeable in market factors (e.g. education policies and literacy competitors) affecting Listenwise sales opportunities
  • Collaborate with all members of the Listenwise team to deliver superior business outcomes, most consistently with marketing and customer success functions
  • Up to 10% travel required

The Ideal Candidate
  • Looking for highly motivated, passionate, empathetic, and intellectually curious people
  • Strong academic record and demonstrated interest in social impact, mission driven work
  • 1-4 years of sales experience
  • Superior listening skills, ability to influence education decision makers, and overcome objections
  • Detail oriented with an ability to step back and strategize
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment within a challenging industry
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Passion for education, public radio, and listening skills
  • Transparent, ethical, and dependable in all circumstances
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Must be able to work from Boston office

Some Plusses
  • Experience selling to government institutions or school districts
  • Classroom teaching experience
  • Experience in SaaS sales is a bonus but not a requirement, we’ll teach you!

Marketing Associate - Public Radio Liaison
What We’re Looking For

We’re eager to find the right person who is passionate about helping young people listen. Attention to detail is critical but even more important is someone who can build relationships, see problems as opportunities and remain relentlessly optimistic.

The Role

In anticipation of Listenwise receiving a grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, we are looking for an enthusiastic Marketing Associate to join the team as liaison to public broadcasting stations participating in the grant.

You will:

  • work closely with the Listenwise marketing team and designated education outreach contacts at five stations across the country.
  • coordinate research with educators.
  • coordinate a workshop to formulate marketing plans for each station to promote audio resources in local schools.
  • set up marketing campaigns.
  • determine appropriate targeting, and optimize processes.
  • along with campaign management, you will have the opportunity to support events, webinars, and other outreach that will be determined following the design thinking workshop.
  • track participation in the marketing efforts and resulting teacher registration, leads and sales generated from these efforts.
  • be responsible for data reporting during the grant.

This is a full-time grant funded position that will start October 1st 2019 and concludes June 30th, 2020 with the option to extend or renew.

Responsibilities will also include the following:
  • Manage relationships with public radio stations participating in grant.
  • Support design thinking experts in the research process; planning and execution of convening.
  • Execute email campaigns.
  • Assist in marketing and advertising promotional activities (e.g. social media twitter chats, paid ad placements, email marketing, etc).
  • Gather and analyze data (e.g. web traffic, lead and sales tracking).
  • Collect quantitative and qualitative data from marketing campaigns.
  • Prepare promotional presentations.
  • Help distribute marketing materials.
  • Collaborate with the Listenwise core marketing team.
  • Assist with organizing promotional events (ie: events, webinars).
  • Track spending and hours related to grant.
  • Some travel required.
  • Boston based preferred.

Candidates should have the following qualifications:
  • Experience working with public media stations.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing tools and techniques including social media.
  • Experience organizing events.
  • Experience gathering and analyzing data.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Solid computer skills, including MS Excel, web analytics and GSuite.
  • Familiarity with marketing computer software and online applications (e.g. CRM tools, google analytics and Google Adwords).
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to work both autonomously and with others;
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of the education landscape a plus.
  • Preferred work experience as a Marketing Associate, Marketing Assistant or similar role.
