Director of Curriculum

Listenwise is a mission-driven EdTech startup based in Boston. Listenwise is an award-winning listening skills platform for students and teachers in middle and high schools. The company is led by respected public radio reporter Monica Brady-Myerov. Listenwise has users in all 50 states and internationally. We’re based in an EdTech co-working space in the Boston Seaport and growing rapidly.

What we’re looking for:

We are looking for someone with passion and energy to direct our listening curriculum development. As the leader of the curriculum effort, you will contribute to the curriculum and content strategy for the business and will be responsible for managing it with high quality and timely execution. You will be both the lead editor of all content and listening assessments as well as write engaging and inspiring content, curriculum, blog posts, and professional development. You will be responsible for managing a team of freelancers who write many of our lessons and quizzes and their work. You will also be responsible for managing relationships with Public Radio and content partners.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage freelance content and quiz writers and interns
  • Write lessons and current events
  • Edit content
  • Select public radio stories for Listenwise
  • Align Listenwise content to school district curriculum maps or partner curriculum
  • Write and deliver professional development
  • Coordinate work with content partners
  • Manage teacher advocate program

What you need to have:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Experience teaching in a K-12 classroom
  • Experience developing curriculum for use by others
  • Understanding of assessment design
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Experience managing staff or contractors
  • Superb organization skills with detail and process orientation
  • A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

It would be a bonus if you also had:

  • Masters in Education or Instructional Design
  • Knowledge of literacy standards, NCSS, NGSS, CCSS and trends in literacy education
  • Audio editing skills including experience with Audacity, Soundcloud, Hindenberg, etc.
  • Familiarity with Reading/ELA/ESL curriculum products
