"Today more than ever students need to learn how to navigate through multiple forms of information. No longer are we limited to learning in a classroom with a book. To me, Listenwise is a way to develop students’ listening comprehension skills to understand content and also a vehicle to promote critical analysis of that content. It’s just as much a thinking tool as a listening tool."

“I choose stories that can be springboards to engage students in the curriculum. Almost all of the other content we use is visual, so it's great to tap into students' listening skills. For debate topics, such as Do we need pennies? I make a T-Chart on the board and as we listen together as a class. Students stand up when they hear a pro or con and I stop the audio to add to our chart. Then students form opinions, support them with evidence from the story, and complete a follow-up writing activity."

"Last year in 5th grade I used Listenwise as a station for one of our rotations in ELA...I specifically chose lessons that connected to our unit or book we were on. My ELL learners and students who were reading below grade level were able to access the material much easier and build their background knowledge for the class discussions. Based on all of this we saw a rise in our CAASPP scores for this school year and in students confidence.
