The History of the Slogan Make America First

Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump’s central campaign theme is “Make America Great Again.” During the nominating convention he tweaked the phrase to be, “Make America First Again.” This phrase has a unique historical background. The America First Committee was created in 1940 to try to prevent the United States from joining the second world war.
