The First Female Computer Programmer

Grace Hopper played an important role in creating the tech world. She left her job as a college professor and joined the Navy Reserve during World War II. Later, she was on the team at Harvard that wrote the first programmable computer code language. She succeeded in a number of male-dominated fields and became an icon in the computer world.
